SPARKILL, N.Y. – On Wednesday evening, the Queens College women's basketball team concluded their regular season road portion of the schedule at Aquinas Hall as the Knights matched up against the Spartans of Saint Thomas Aquinas College in East Coast Conference action.

The Spartans opened the game on a 5-0 run before freshman
Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) and graduate student
Raven Pitt (Valley Stream, N.Y.) helped Queens on a 7-0 run to take a 7-5 lead halfway into the first quarter. But the home side's long-distance shooting would help them take a 14-9 lead.
But the Knights would go into the second quarter trailing 17-13 as a layup by Davis cut a six-point deficit to four.
It was a slow start to the second quarter as the Spartans used a 14-5 run to take a 31-18 lead with 4:30 to go until halftime.
But the Knights would fight back as they ended the first half on an 8-3 run to trail by 34-26 heading into the locker rooms.
Queens would keep their deficit down to six on two separate occasions to open the third quarter, but with the Spartans staying hot from three-point land as they went 12-35 for the game would help them defeat the Knights to the final score of 69-46 Wednesday evening.
Game Highlights
- Davis led the Knights with a team-high 20 points (8-19 FG) to go with four rebounds.
- Pitt recorded 12 points (5-16 FG) to go with five assists, and four steals, while sophomore Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y) recorded eight points (3-11 FG) with four rebounds and two steals.
- The Knights shot 34.5% going 19-55 from the field while the Spartans shot 43.1% from the field on 28-65 shooting.
- STAC won the boards battle (45-29), as they held a 15-14 margin on second-chance points.
- The Knights committed 19 turnovers to the Spartans' 18 as Queens held a slim 20-19 margin on points off turnovers.
