NEWARK, DEL. – Despite a career-high 19 points from sophomore
Tyron Wright (Camby, IN), the Queens College men's basketball team was unable to steer the ship toward a victory Wednesday evening against host Wilmington University Wildcats in non-conference play at the WU Athletics Complex.

It was a back-and-forth swing in the opening seven minutes of the first half as the game saw three ties and two lead changes.
After two made free throws from sophomore
Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) tied the game at 13-13 with 13:28 to go, the Wildcats would go on a 5-0 run as the Knights were unable to find their rhythm.
A three-pointer from sophomore
Elijah Blackman (Queens, N.Y.) would give Queens their first field goal since the 14:41 minute of play as the Knights got within two, 18-16.
But the home side would continue to stretch their lead as they extended to lead to nine, 31-22 with 4:23 left in the first half.
Five straight points from Wright would bring Queens within four, 31-27 before the Wildcats ended the first half on a 9-1 run as the Knights missed their final three shots and committed three turnovers to find themselves trailing by 12, 40-28 heading into the locker room at halftime.
The Knights would cut their deficit to down 10 on three separate occasions in the early going of the second half.
Aftter a jumper by sophomore
Sunnie Diamond (Hiram, GA) brought Queens within 10, 45-35 with 18:16 left in the game, the Wildcats would go on a 15-3 run from the 17:57 mark to the 15:42 mark as they took a 60-38 lead.
A 15-6 run from the 15:35 mark to the 10:56 mark would see the Knights bring their deficit down to 13, 66-53, but it would be the closest the visitors would get as the Wildcats took the first meeting between both programs to the final score of 92-74 Wednesday evening.

- Wright recorded a career-high 19 points (8-13 FG, 3-6 3PT) to go with six rebounds to lead the Knights' offense Wednesday evening.
- Diamond tallied 17 points (8-17 FG) with four rebounds and three steals, while senior Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) notched 12 points (3-7 FG) with a team-high eight rebounds and one block on the evening.
- As a team, Queens shot 41.9% as they went 26-62 from the field while the Wildcats went 30-62 shooting 48.4% on the evening.
- Queens won the boards battle (41-33) as they held a 15-8 edge on second-chance points.
- The Knights committed 17 turnovers to the Wildcats' 8 as the home side tallied a 23-10 advantage on points off turnovers.
