Volleyball Game Day Preview – Volleyball Concludes ECC Regular Season Trip in Buffalo

FLUSHING, N.Y. -  The Queens College volleyball team went 1-1 last week as they swept STAC at home before falling short against Mercy on the road.
 
The Knights conclude their 2023 regular season road trip portion of their schedule with a trip to Western New York beginning with Daemen University Wildcats on Saturday (Nov. 4) morning before concluding the trip against the Saints of D'Youville University on Sunday (Nov. 5) afternoon.

Schedule for the Week (10/23 – 10/29)
  • Saturday (Nov. 4) – Daemen University – 11 am
    • Series History: 4-15

  • Sunday (Nov. 5) – D'Youville University – 12 pm
    • Series History: 4-1
    • Steak: W3
    • Last Match: W, 3-2 Home (9/24/23) 

Queens College Knights Preview (12-8 Overall Record, 6-3 ECC)
  • Head Coach Stefan Leger and the Knights are coming off a 1-1 week as they defeated STAC 3-0 before falling short against Mercy on the road to the score of 3-0.
  • Entering Saturday's ECC match, the Knights hold a 6-3 conference record and are tied with Molloy for second place in the standing.
  • The Knights are led by sophomore Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) who has recorded 273 kills (3.50 kps), 31 service aces, 168 digs, and 35 blocks with five double-doubles.
    • Conrad recorded a career-high 24 kills against Adelphi (10/19)
    • She would record a career-best four blocks against Holy Family (9/8) and five services against Wilmington (9/9).
    • Conrad earned her second ECC Player of the Week honors on October 23.
      • On October 2nd, Conrad was awarded a spot on the ECC Honor Roll sheet.
  • Junior Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) has tallied 187 kills (second on the team), to go with 29 service aces, 235 digs, and seven double-doubles on the season.
    • Franco recorded a season-and-career-best 23 kills against Roberts Wesleyan (10/8).
    • The junior notched a season-best 19 digs against Wilmington (9/9).
    • Franco has been named to the ECC Honor Roll sheet three times this season.
      • On October 2nd, Franco was awarded ECC Player of the Week honors.
  • Junior Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) has tallied 765 assists, 186 digs, and 31 service aces to go with 10 double-doubles on the season.
    • Boudouris recorded a season-and-career-best 56 assists against Roberts Wesleyan (10/8).
    • Boudouris has been named ECC Weekly Award Sheet on six separate occasions earning Setter of the Week (4x), and Honor Roll (2x)
      • On October 23rd, Boudouris was awarded her fourth Setter of the Week honors.

Daemen University Wildcats Preview (19-5 Overall Record, 9-0 ECC)
  • Daemen enters the week with an overall record of 19-5 and 9-0 in ECC play and are on a three-match win streak having swept Roberts Wesleyan on Oct. 25.
  • Sunday's meeting be the 20th meeting between both sides with the Knights trailing series 4-15 All-Time.
  • Queens are looking to end a nine-match losing streak to the Wildcats and earn their first victory in Amherst since the 2014 season when they earned a 3-1 victory on Nov. 1.
  • Charlotte Koerber leads the offense having recorded 266 kills, 209 digs, 38 service aces, and 13 blocks, while Giselle Giraud has tallied 229 kills, 45 blocks, and 55 digs on the year. 

D'Youville University Saints Preview (7-15 Overall Record, 3-6 ECC)
  • D'Youville enters the week with an overall record of 7-15 and 3-6 in ECC play and are coming off a 3-1 loss to Roberts Wesleyan on Oct. 27.
  • Sunday's meeting with the sixth meeting between both sides with the Knights leading the 4-1 All-Time.
  • Queens is looking to complete the series sweep having earned a 3-2 victory over the Saints at home on Sept. 24 when they rallied from two sets down to complete the comeback.
  • Madeline O'Brien leads the offense having recorded 301 kills, 189 digs, 23 blocks, and 17 service aces, while Giselle Ramirez has recorded 162 kills, 48 blocks, and 34 digs on the year. 

Next Match
The regular season officially concludes on Friday (Nov. 10) evening as the Knights welcome the Lions of Molloy University to town.
