FLUSHING, N.Y. – Tipping off the new year inside Fitzgerald Gymnasium with East Coast Conference action, the Queens College women's basketball team defeated Molloy University Lions 54-46 Wednesday evening.
Junior
Khadija Demry (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the offense with a team-high 14 points, while sophomore
Chelsea Reeves (Brooklyn, N.Y.) added 12 points and freshman
Brianna Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied her first career double-double with a career-high 11 points and 13 rebounds on the night as the Knights evened their conference record to 2-2 on the season.

Davis got the scoring starting early with a three-pointer before graduate student
Raven Pitt (Valley Stream, N.Y.) added a layup to put the Knights up 5-0 just 41 seconds into the game.
The Lions would add back-to-back buckets to cut the score down 5-4 before Demry and Reeves put together a 9-0 run from 6:18 to the 3:55 mark as the Knights took an early 10-point lead of 14-4.
Molloy would end the first quarter on a 5-3 run but Queens would take a 17-9 lead heading into the second quarter.
Davis and junior
Kendra McPeek (Binghamton, N.Y.) would put together a 6-2 run as the Knights extended their lead back to double digits of 12, 23-11 with 5:35 remaining until halftime.
The Lions would start to cut into the Knights lead as they brought Queens' advantage down to eight, 26-18 with 2:15 left in the first half.
The Knights ended the second quarter on a 7-0 run as they held the visitors scoreless over the final 1:43 minutes as they took a 15-point lead (
their largest lead of the game) of 33-18 into halftime.
It was a sluggish start to the third quarter as the Knights were held scoreless for the first three minutes before Reeves knocked down two free throws to put them back up by 15, 35-20.
With the Knights struggling to get their offense going, Molloy would together an 11-0 run as they cut the lead down to four, 35-31 with 3:32 left in the third.
Sophomore
Aalia Carlson (Montclair, N.J.) would break the scoreless drought with a three-pointer as Queens put together a 10-5 run to end the third quarter taking a nine-point lead of 45-36 into the final 10 minutes of play.
A 6-3 run by Demry would put Queens back up by 12, 51-39 with 5:27 left in the game before the Lions attempted a comeback.
As the Knights missed their next three shots, the Lions went on a 7-0 run from the 5:10 mark to the 3:34 mark as the visitors cut the deficit down to five, 51-46.
Leading by five, both sides would cold but Queens would Molloy scoreless over the final 3:22 minute of play before the Knights iced the game at the charity stripe to earn their second ECC win of the season with a 54-46 victory.

- Demry tallied a team-high 14 points (5-13 FG) with four assists, while Reeves notched 12 points (2-6 FG, 6-8 FT) to go with seven rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block.
- Rookie Davis tallied a career-high 11 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3PT) with 13 rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
- Pitt recorded eight points (2-7 FG, 3-6 FT) with six rebounds.
- The Knights shot 34.0% going 16-47 from the field, while the Lions 27.0% from the field with a 17-63 field goal performance.
- Queens forced 20 turnovers as they turned them into 12 points, and held a 15-6 edge on fast break points.
