East Coast Conference Play opens as Volleyball Travel to Buffalo

FLUSHING, N.Y. – East Coast Conference play opens in Buffalo, N.Y. as the Queens College volleyball matches up against defending champions Daemen University Wildcats on Saturday (Sept. 24) afternoon. The trip concludes on Sunday (Sept. 25) afternoon against the Saints of D'Youville University.

Daemen University Series History
  • Record: 4-12
  • Last Matchup: October 22, 2021 (L 0-3) Current Streak: L6
  • It will be the 17th meeting between both sides with the Knights trailing the series 4-12.
  • Queens will be looking to end a six-game losing streak losing against Daemen.
  • The last win in Amherst came during the 2014 season when the Knights defeated the Wildcats 3-1.  
D'Youville University Series History
  • Record: 1-1
  • Last Matchup: October 23, 2021 (L 0-3) Current Streak: L1
  • It will be the third meeting between both sides with the series tied 1-1. 
  • The Knights are winless in their lone meeting in Buffalo as they were swept 3-0 last season.
Queens College
  • The Knights are 5-8 overall on the season and are coming off a 3-1 victory over Caldwell in non-conference last Sunday (Sept. 18). 
  • The five wins are the most in a single season since the 2017 season.  
  • Rookie Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) leads the offense having tallied 117 kills averaging 2.49 kills per set. 
  • While senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, Fl) has tallied 115 kills averaging 2.45 kills per set with 10 service aces and 26 total blocks on the season.
  • Sophomore Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) is averaging 2.77 kills per set with 97 on the season with five double-doubles.  
  • On Monday (Sept. 19) two Knights were honored by the East Coast Conference office in the fourth weekly report. (Link)
    • Franco was named Player of the Week and has been named to the weekly report sheet three times this season. 
    • While freshman Sarah Munn (Torrance, CA) was named Rookie of the Week for the first time this season. Munn was the third Knight to be named Rookie of the week this season following Ryann Frontera (Dripping Springs, TX) in week one and Conrad in week 3. 
  • Queens has been tabbed to finish fourth in the ECC Coaches Preseason Poll.
Daemen University
  • Daemen is 7-3 overall, 1-0 in conference play, and riding a two-game winning streak heading into Saturday's game. 
  • The Wildcats are coming off a 3-0 sweep of D'Youville Thursday evening. 
  • Maggie Burns leads the offense having tallied 85 kills on the season averaging 3.27 kills per set. 
  • Daemen are the defending ECC Champions and have been tabbed to finish first in the ECC Preseason Poll. 
D'Youville University
  • D'Youville is 4-12 overall, 0-1 in conference play, and are coming off a 3-0 loss to Daemen to open ECC play. 
  • The Saints are on a nine-game losing streak.
  • Jaycee Karelus leads the offense having tallied 105 kills averaging 1.98 kills per set. 
  • D'Youville is not eligible for the ECC Tournament this season.
