GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – Playing their eighth straight road and second match in a row, the Queens College volleyball team made the trek to Garden City, New York as the Knights matched up against the Panthers of Adelphi University at the Center for Recreation and Sport Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) and senior Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL) combined for 12 kills but Queens would fall in three straight sets to the score of 15-25, 6-25, 15-25 against the Panthers to conclude their road stand.

Recap (Final Score 0-3 | Sets 15-25, 6-25, 15-25)

Queens jumped ahead 6-1 as Deodat tallied three kills forcing the Panthers to take a timeout.

Adelphi's timeout would put the Knights out of rhythm before a kill by Taylor Smith (Temecula, CA) knotted the first set at 7-7. The Knights would stay close to the Panthers in the early going before a Panthers 6-1 run put the Knights in a 17-11 deficit. But Adelphi would close out the first set with a 25-15 win to take a 1-0 lead.

Nine Knights attacking errors as the Panthers hit .368 in the second set would help the host take a 2-0 set lead.

Looking to find a rhythm, the Knights made changes to the lineup to start the third set as freshman Jayna Marie Lorenzo (Rodeo, CA) and Franco combined to give the Knights a 4-1 advantage.

Playing against an experienced side, Queens stayed close once again in the early going before another Panthers run put them ahead 15-8.

Franco started a 3-0 run as the Knights cut the score down to 15-11 but Queens would fall 3-0 on the evening to the final score of 25-15 to conclude their road stand.
