WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – Seven Knights led the way for their respective as the Queens College volleyball team earned a season-high five honorees on the East Coast Conference Weekly Award sheet. While Men's soccer took home two of the major weekly awards.
Volleyball
Rookie of the Week – Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) | OH
Conrad tallied 31.5 points and 29 kills to average 3.63 kills per set to go with 11 digs and three blocks on the week. Conrad tallied a career-high 17 kills hitting .424 in a 3-0 victory over Le Moyne. The Carrolltown native notched double-digit kills for the fourth straight match with 12 kills against SCSU.
Setter of the Week – Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) | S
Boudouris notched 76 assists and 25 digs as she tallied two double-doubles in the Knights 1-1 week. She tallied a season-high 39 assists, falling short of one assist of tying her career-best 40 assists in the 3-0 victory over Le Moyne.
Honor Roll – Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) | OH
The sophomore continues to make her presence felt on the outside as she two double-doubles in the SCSU Tri-Match. Franco began the Tri-Match with a season-high 14 kills and 15 digs against Le Moyne before matching the tally against SCSU with a team-high 14 kills and 17 digs. Franco ended the week with 29.5 points, 28 kills, (3.50 K/S), and 32 digs (4.0 D/S)
Honor Roll – Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL.) | RS/MB
Deodat notched 15 kills and 9 blocks in the 1-1 week for the Knights. In the five-set against SCSU, the Tampa Bay native notched nine kills and a season-best five blocks.
Honor Roll – Ryann Frontera (Dripping Springs, TX) | L/S
In the 1-1 week for the Knights, Frontera tallied 40 digs and 11 assists. The Texan native started the SCSU Tri-Match with 17 digs before she notched 23 digs and a career-best seven assists against SCSU.
Men's Soccer
Offensive Player of the Week – David Oprea (Oslo, Norway) | Forward
Oprea led the way with five points in the Knights' 2-0 week. The rookie tallied his first collegiate goal and assisted on another in the 4-1 victory over Jefferson Wednesday evening. In the ECC opener against D'Youville, the Norwegian notched his first game-winner of the season as he completed a cross from junior
Leo Pinto in the 1-0 win Saturday afternoon.
Defensive Player of the Week – Dario Giovanni Cruz (Guadalajara, Mexico) | Goalkeeper
Cruz made nine saves in the Knights' 2-0 week. The Guadalajara native made six saves in the 4-1 victory over Jefferson to earn the 11th victory of his career and moved up to the third in the All-Time Career Wins record. In a 1-0 ECC victory over D'Youville, Cruz made three saves to help the Knights earn their first shutout win of the season.
