#46 Men’s Tennis Sweeps Post 7-0 as Druker Earns 100th Career Win

FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the Queens College men's tennis team returned to non-conference action as they welcomed the Eagles of Post University to Flushing in non-conference action.
 
With head coach Somadi Druker one win away from the century mark, the Knights delivered in fashionable manner as they swept the Eagles 7-0 winning all nine matches on the day. 
 
Druker's first win came against Post University on February 15, 2015, as the Knights won 8-1, and her 100th win would come against the same team eight seasons later as the Knights swept the Eagles 7-0 Tuesday afternoon.

Druker has built an impressive resume guiding Queens to four East Coast Conference championships, three regular-season championships, seven straight NCAA Tournament appearances including two Round of 16 appearances in 2017 and 2018.
 
Since taking charge, Druker has been named ECC Coach of the Year on five occasions.  
 
With the win, the Knights improved to 10-6 overall, while the Eagles moved to 5-11 on the season.

Doubles Competition
 
Queens took an early lead into double competitions as the #3 doubles pair of senior Hugo Evangelista de Andrade (Goiania, Brazil) / sophomore Tim Ostheimer (Frankfurt, Germany) quickly dispatched Jose Nunez/Niklas Langenfield to the score of 6-1. 
 
The Knights would take a 1-0 lead heading into singles play as the #1 doubles duo of sophomore Omar El Shehawey(Cairo, Egypt) / senior Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) defeated Cooper Smith/Antos Anderson to the score of 6-2. 
 
It would be a hard-fought win at #2 doubles but the junior duo of Kareem Rashad (Alexandria, Egypt) / Lucas Demuth (Buenos Aires, Argentina) would complete the sweep as they defeated the pair of Gustavo Kerber/Nino Krneta to the score of 7-5. 
 
Singles Competition
 
Rashad would put the Knights up 2-0 as he made quick work of Krneta to the score of 6-1, 6-2 at #1 singles court. 
 
Shehawey gave the Knights a 3-0 commanding lead as he defeated Ivan Kalchanov to the score of 6-0, 6-2 at #4 singles. 
 
Queens would clinch the match at #5 singles as Borges defeated Anderson to the score of 6-0, 6-1. 
 
Given rest from doubles competition, junior Mariano Bibiloni (La Plata, Argentina ) put the Knights up 5-0 as he defeated Kerber to the score of 6-3, 6-1 at #2 singles. 
 
Demuth continued the sweep for the Knights as he defeated Smith at #3 singles to the score of 6-2, 6-3. 
 
Freshman Philipp Uhde (Heidelberg, Germany) would complete the sweep at #6 singles as he defeated Nunez to the score of 6-3, 6-4 as the Knights earned their 10th win of the season. 
 
UP NEXT: Head Coach Somadi Druker and the Knights return to ECC play as they welcome the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College to Flushing on Friday (Apr. 8) afternoon. First serve is set for 1:00 P.M.
