Quest for Five! Postseason Play Begins Friday for Men’s Tennis

FLUSHING, N.Y. –  The Queens College men's tennis team concluded the 2022 regular season with a 15-7 overall record and 6-0 record in East Coast Conference play. 
 
For the third season in a row, head coach Somadi Druker and the Knights won their third straight ECC regular-season championship crown and seven overall since the 2010 season. 
 
Since taking charge, the Knights have won four regular-season championships and extended their ECC win streak to 17 games dating back to the 2019 season. 
 
Heading into Friday's tournament play, the Knights finds themselves ranked #34 in the ITA National ranking and #3 in the NCAA East Region. The new rankings will be released on Thursday (Apr. 28). 
 
ECC Championship play begins Friday and will conclude Saturday inside the QC Tennis Bubble. 
 
2022 ECC Men's Tennis Championship - at Queens College
Semifinals - Friday, April 29
No. 4 Daemen vs. No. 1 Queens  - 11:00 a.m.

No. 3 Dist. Columbia vs. No. 2 St. Thomas Aquinas - 2:00 p.m.
 
Final - Saturday, April 30
DAE/QC vs. UDC/STAC - 12:00 p.m
 
The Knights take a four-match win streak into their opening game against the Daemen University Wildcats.
 
During the season, Queens swept the Wildcats in both matches to the score of 7-0. 
 
With a win over Daemen, the Knights can advance to their eighth straight championship game as they will take on the winner of game two between #2 St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans vs. #3 District of Columbia Firebirds
 
Against St. Thomas Aquinas, the Knights swept the series in two close matches with the first match being a closely-knitted 4-3 victory before Queens used a 5-2 win in the second match to pick up the season sweep. 
 
Against the Firebirds, the Knights won by a combined score of 13-1.

Each match of the championship will be streamed live on the ECC Network. Watch the ECC Network at www.eccsportsnetwork.com or by downloading the ECC Network app. Find the app by searching "ECC Network" on Apple or Android mobile phones and tablets or on Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, and Roku streaming devices. The broadcasts will mainly focus on the No. 1 flight in both doubles and singles but will switch to other courts when possible throughout the match.
