FLUSHING, N.Y. – On Saturday afternoon the Queens College men's tennis team bounced back from Friday's close loss to defeat the Bentley University Falcons in non-conference action inside the Queens College Tennis Bubble.
With the win, the Knights improve to 2-4 overall, and move to 2-1 in regional play, while the Falcons dropped to 5-4 on the season.
Following Saturday's win, Queens stays undefeated against Bentley improving their record to 8-0 all-time.
Doubles Competition
Queens went up 1-0 as the #2 doubles duo of junior
Mariano Bibiloni (La Plata, Argentina ) / sophomore
Tim Ostheimer (Frankfurt, Germany) defeated Gabe Horowitz / Alexander Novins to the score of 6-2.
The Knights would clinch the doubles point as the #3 double pair of senior
Hugo Evangelista de Andrade (Goiania, Brazil) / Julius Schulte (Dusseldorf, Germany) won 6-3 over Liam Marr / Andrew Broom. The duo improved to 2-0 in regional competition.
It would be a sweep in doubles competition as the Knights' #1 doubles pair of junior
Kareem Rashad (Alexandria, Egypt)/ junior
Lucas Demuth (Buenos Aires, Argentina) won 6-4 over Daniel Weitz / Connor Aulson.
Singles Competition
Playing at #3 singles competition for the second straight match sophomore
Omar El Shehawey (Cairo, Egypt) made quick work of Aulson as he swept the match with a 6-0, 6-3 straight-set victory.
The Knights would take a 3-0 lead as sophomore
Francisco Gonzalez (La Plata, Argentina) won 6-3, 6-1 over Noah Monsanto at #6 singles competition.
Bibiloni won his second straight match at #2 singles as he dispatched Max Bone in straight sets to the score of 6-2, 6-3 clinching the match for Queens.
Freshman
Philipp Uhde (Heidelberg, Germany) would keep the winning note going as he defeated Novins to the score of 6-4, 6-1 at #5 singles.
At #4 singles competition senior
Moritz Borges (Hunxe, Germany) would be the lone Knight to be defeated as he fell 6-4, 6-3 to Jordan Soifer.
Rashad bounced back at #1 singles as the Egyptian native needed three sets to defeat Falcons' Weitz. Rashad would take the first set 6-2 before falling 6-2 in the second set. He would quickly make up for it with a 6-2 victory in the third set as the Knights took the match 6-1 on the afternoon.

Somadi Druker and the Knights will welcome Edinboro University of Pennsylvania to Flushing on Thursday (Mar. 10) for the first time in program history. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
