Indoor Track & Field Opens New Season at Wagner Seahawks Shoots

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – The 2022-2023 season got underway Friday (Dec. 9) afternoon as the Queens College men's and women's indoor track and field competed in the Wagner College Seahawks Shootout held at Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island. 
 
The Knights went up against local Division I schools such as host Wagner College, LIU, Monmouth University, NJIT, St. Peters, and Division II schools in East Coast Conference foe St. Thomas Aquinas College.
 
Men's Highlights
 
It was a debut meet for many of the student-athletes as sophomore Hakeem Griffiths (Portmore, Jamaica) led the Knights in the Men's 60's meters placing 41st with a time of 7.50. while competing in the jumps, Griffiths finished 19thin the men's long jump event with a distance of 6.21m and ninth in the triple jump with a distance of 13.38m. 

In the men's 600 meters, senior Myles Jackson (San Juan, Trinidad, and Tobago) finished 20th with a 1:26.21. 
 
Naazir Noel (Queens, N.Y.) made his debut and finished seventh in the men's triple jump with a distance of 13.55m. 
 
Women's Highlights
 
Senior Khareena Primus (St. Andrew, Grenada) led the way in the women's 60 meter race finishing 20th with a time of 8.04. 
 
While Fatima Morrobel (Long Beach, N.Y.) finished 21st in the women's 600 meters with a time of 1:52.21, while teammates Favour Onyinyechi Anyalewechi (Lagos, Nigeria) was right behind her with a finish of 23rd in 1:59.82 and Nicole Colombi (Wantagh, N.Y.) completed the event finishing 28th in 2:07.68. 
 
Rachel Mow (Esopus, N.Y.) made an excellent debut finishing 11th in the women's 1000 meter event with a time of 3:43.98.
 
In the women's triple jump, Bianca Hiltz (Southwick, Mass) placed 14th with a jump of 10.33m. 
 
While in the throwing events, freshman Alyssa Lebron (Massapequa, N.Y.) placed seventh in the weight throw with a throw of 14.90m and placed 14th in the Shot Put with a throw of 10.65m. 
 
UP NEXT: The Knights will rest up and prepare for the Wagner College Invitational after the New Year as they return to Ocean Breeze Complex on Friday (Jan. 6) afternoon.
