For the third time in four weeks, freshman forward
Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) has earned top ECC women's basketball Rookie of the Week honors.
While on the men's side, senior center
Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) has earned his first Defensive Player of the Week honors, while sophomore guard
Sunnie Diamond (Hiram, GA) earned a honor roll spot for the third time this season.
Women's Basketball
Rookie of the Week – Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) | Forward
For the second consecutive week and third time this season, rookie forward Lapertosa has earned ECC top women's basketball rookie honors.
Lapertosa led the Knights offense averaging 16.5 PPG, 10.0 RPG, and 1.5 BPG as she shot 50.0% on the week with 33 points, 20 rebounds, and three blocks against D'Youville and Daemen. The rookie led the way with her third double-double and second straight in the ECC opener against D'Youville as she tallied a career-high 24 points and 13 rebounds with 2 blocks.
Men's Basketball
Defensive Player of the Week – Tyler Carey (Bay Shore, N.Y.) | Center
After leading the Knights to their first win over Daemen University in Amherst, the senior from Bay Shore finished the week averaging 11.5 points, 15.0 rebounds, and 4.0 blocks recording 23 points, 30 rebounds, and eight blocks in the Knights 1-1 week.
Carey began conference play with his second double-double of the season with 13 points and career-high 17 rebounds and four blocks against DYU before leading the Knights to their first victory in conference play with his second consecutive double-double with 10 points, 13 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory over Daemen University.
Honor Roll – Sunnie Diamond (Hiram, GA) | Guard
For the third time in four weeks, the sophomore from Georgia has earned an ECC Honor Roll.
Diamond averaged 16.0 PPG, 6.5 RPG, 2.0 SPG, and 1.0 BPG as he recorded 32 points, 13 rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in the Knights 1-1 week. The Hiram native notched a career-high 21 points to go with six rebounds, four steals, and two blocks in the Knights first victory over Daemen in Amherst.
