WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced that two student-athletes were awarded weekly honors in the first men's and women's basketball weekly report sheet of the year.
Women's Basketball
Rookie of the Week – Cecilia Lapertosa (Whitesboro, N.Y.) | Forward
In the first ECC Women's Basketball Weekly Report, freshman forward
Cecilia Lapertosa was awarded Rookie of the Week honors.
Lapertosa has begun her collegiate career averaging 12.0 points per game with 6.0 rebounds per game as the rookie recorded 24 points and 12 rebounds in two games over the weekend. She led the Knights with 12 points against Chestnut Hill before notching another dozen against Jefferson with a career-high seven rebounds on Sunday afternoon.
Men's Basketball
Honor Roll – Sunnie Diamond (Hiram, GA) | Guard
In the first ECC Men's Basketball Weekly Report, sophomore guard
Sunnie Diamond earned a honor roll spot.
Diamond is off to an impressive start in Flushing, averaging 16.5 PPG on 50.0 percent shooting after tallying 33 points, four blocks, and four steals in two games. The sophomore tallied 16 points in the victory over Adelphi before notching a career-high 17 points against Pace. He would shoot 62.5 percent from the field with a career-high three blocks to help knock off Adelphi in the season opener.
