Volleyball Earns Top 3 Weekly Award Honors; 3 Knights Find Spot on Honor Roll Sheet

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Monday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced that six Queens College student-athletes were awarded weekly awards for their respective sports. 
 
For the second time this season, volleyball has earned three of the four major weekly award. In ten weeks, the Knights have earned the top honors 12x with one week of weekly report sheet to go. While men's and women's soccer concluded their regular season with a player receiving a honor roll spot.

Defensive Player of the Week – Anjeline Arnakis (Bayside, N.Y.)
For the third time this season, a Knight has been named Defensive Player of the Week as the sophomore Arnakis earned the top defensive honors Monday afternoon.
 
On Saturday, Arnakis put on a blocking party as the sophomore tallied eight kills on a .438 hitting % to go with career-high eight blocks as Queens defeated Mercy 3-1 to end their homestand on a high note.

Setter of the Week – Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) | S
For the third time this season, Boudouris has been named Setter of the Week. 
 
Boudouris tallied her eighth double-double of the year as Queens defeated Mercy 3-1 to end an eight-game losing streak to the Mavericks. The sophomore notched 45 assists, and 10 digs to go with three kills and one service ace to help Queens earn a series split.

Rookie of the Week – Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA)
For the third time this season, Conrad has been named rookie of the Week. In nine weeks, Queens has earned the top rookie honors on five occasions (8/29, 9/12, 9/19, 10/11 & 10/31).
 
Conrad notched a team-high 16 kills hitting .351 with three blocks to help Queens defeat Mercy 3-1 as the Knights earned a series split Saturday afternoon.

Honor Roll – Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) | OH
 
For the sixth time this season Franco has found a spot on the Conference Weekly award sheet. 
 
Franco tallied her eighth double-double of the year with 13 kills and 14 digs as Queens defeated Mercy for the first time since the 2017 season with a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon. 
 
Men's Soccer

Honor Roll – Adolfo Martinez Paquet (Sevilla, Spain) | Midfielder
 
For the sixth time this season, Paquet has found a space on the ECC men's soccer weekly report sheet. The sophomore has been named Offensive Player of the Week honor on two separate occasions (9/19, and 10/17).
 
Paquet tallied his first career brace as the sophomore notched two goals in the first half to defeat Staten Island 4-0 in the Knights' regular-season finale. Paquet converted both PKs as he tallied his seventh game-winner of the season to finish the regular season with 11 goals, and two assists for a team-high 24 points.

Honor Roll – Sara Messemer (Whitestone, N.Y.) | Forward
The 2022 regular season concluded but Messemer delivered on Senior Knight as the senior scored the game-tying goal in the Knights' 1-1 draw against Staten Island Saturday evening.
