Women’s Tennis Earns Three All-Conference Honorees

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Thursday (Oct. 27) morning, the East Coast Conference office announced that the three Queens College women's tennis student-athletes earned All-Conference honors. 
 
Seniors Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland), and Gabriela Sciarrotta (Woodmere, N.Y.) were awarded First Team honors, while junior Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt) earned Second Team Honors.

For the fourth straight year, Makal has earned All-Conference honors as she adds to her list of accolades. The Poland native compiled a record of 3-2 at #1 singles and an overall record of 6-3 in singles play. In doubles play, Makal went 8-1 overall as she went 5-0 in dual matches including an undefeated record in conference play. 
 
On the year, Makal was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll sheet on three separate occasions (9/19, 9/27, 10/17)
 
Gabriela Sciarrotta Woodmere, N.Y. | Senior | First-Team All-Conference
Sciarrotta All Conference 
For the second straight year, Sciarrotta has earned All-Conference honors. After earning second-team honors last season, the Woodmere native earned First-Team this season as she finished the fall with a 5-2 overall record including a 4-1 record in dual matches and a 3-1 record in ECC play. 
 
In doubles play, Sciarrotta went 7-1 overall including an undefeated 4-0 record in conference play with partner Makal in dual matches. 
 
The junior earned a Weekly Honor Roll spot on October 11.

Fawzy missed the 2021 conference season due to an injury, but the Egyptian native would make up lost time as she earned Second-Team All-Conference honors.
 
In the ITA East Regional Singles Tournament, Fawzy advanced to the semi-final match before she fell to the eventual winner. The junior went 7-1 overall in singles play including a 4-0 record in dual matches as she went undefeated at #2 singles with a 3-0 record.
 
Fawzy earned multiple ECC Weekly Honor Roll spots on Sept. 27 and Oct. 11.
 
UP NEXT: On Friday (Oct. 28) morning, Head Coach Alan Nagel and the Knights enter the ECC Women's Tennis Tournament as the #3 seed as they look to clinch their third ECC crown in four seasons as they begin the tournament against the #2 seed and 2021 champions The University of the District of Colombia Firebirds. The first serve is set for 9:00 A.M. inside the Queens College Tennis Bubble.
