Volleyball Nearly Sweeps tops Honors as 11 Knights Named to ECC Weekly Award Sheet

WEST BABYLON, N.Y. – On Tuesday afternoon, the East Coast Conference office announced that 11 Knights found a spot on the weekly award sheet for their respective sports. The volleyball team earned five weekly honorees earning three of the four top honors. While men's soccer, women's soccer, women's tennis, and men's and women's cross country student-athletes found a spot on the honor roll sheet.

Defensive Player of the Week – Ryann Frontera (Dripping Springs, TX)
For the second time this season, Frontera has earned top honors. On August 29, she was named Rookie of the Week and on October 11, the rookie has been named Defensive Player of the Week becoming the second Knight to earn DPOTW honors. 
 
Frontera notched 69 digs to go with seven assists and six service aces as the Knights went 3-0. Against Molloy, Frontera tallied 20 digs and three service aces as the Knights defeated Molloy 3-0. Against Pace, the rookie tied a career-high 25 digs to go with two service aces and three assists. She would finish the week with 24 digs and three assists as Queens swept their second ECC opponent of the week in the 3-0 victory over Roberts Wesleyan.

Setter of the Week – Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) | S
For the second time this season, Boudouris has been named Setter of the Week. 
 
Boudouris tallied 116 assists averaging 10.55 assists per set to go with 30 digs, five service aces, and four kills in the 3-0 week for Queens. She began the week with 29 assists in the 3-0 win over Molloy before notching her sixth double-double of the season with a career-high 52 assists and 18 digs in the 3-2 comeback victory over Pace. She would conclude the week with 35 assists, two service aces, and six digs in their 3-0 sweep over Roberts Wesleyan Sunday afternoon.

Rookie of the Week – Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA)
Conrad has been named rookie of the Week for the second time this season and the fourth time a Knight has been named rookie of the week. 
 
Conrad notched 25 kills and four blocks on the week as Queens went 3-0 on the week. In the 3-2 comeback victory over Pace Conrad tallied a match-high 16 kills to go with three blocks as she tallied 19 points.

Honor Roll – Alexis Deodat (Tampa Bay, FL.) | RS/MB
For the third time this season, Deodat has been named to the Honor Roll Sheet. 
 
Deodat led from the front as she notched 31 kills, 10 digs, and 13 blocks as Queens went 3-0 on the week. Deodat tallied nine kills in the 3-0 win over Molloy before notching 14 kills, and 6 blocks in the 3-2 comeback victory over Pace. She would conclude the week with eight kills and two blocks in the 3-0 sweep over Roberts Wesleyan as she hit a searing .500 on the afternoon.

Honor Roll – Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) | OH
 
For the fifth time, this season Franco has found a spot on the Conference Weekly award sheet. 
 
Franco tallied 30 kills averaging 2.73 kills per set, hitting .234 with 25 digs, and four service aces as the Knights went 3-0 on the week. She began with seven kills in the win over Molloy before notching her seventh double-double of the year in the 3-2 victory over Pace with 14 kills and 12 digs. The sophomore would conclude the week with a match-high nine kills against Roberts Wesleyan as Queens swept their third ECC opponent of the season.
 
Men's Soccer

Honor Roll – Dario Giovanni Cruz (Guadalajara, Mexico) | Goalkeeper
For this third time this season, Cruz has found a spot on the men's soccer weekly report sheet. 
 
Cruz made 11 saves on the week including five saves in the 2-0 victory over UDC in ECC play. The senior earned his fourth ECC shutout and sixth overall of the season.
 
Honor Roll – Nicholas Tagios (East Williston, N.Y.) | Forward
It took 30 seconds of magic as  Tagios stunned UDC with a brace to lead the Knights to a 2-0 victory in ECC play. Tagios notched the fourth game-winning goal of his career as Queens shut out their fourth ECC opponent of the season to move to 4-2 in ECC play.
 
Women's Soccer

Honor Roll – Sarah Marino (Enfield, CT.) | Midfielder/Forward
Marino tallied her second career brace as she notched two goals in the 8-0 victory over Lincoln in ECC play. She would record four points and her first game-winning goal of the season to help the Knights move to fourth place in the ECC standing.
 
Women's Tennis

Honor Roll – Caroline Hany-Fawzy (Alexandria, Egypt)
 
Fawzy went 2-0 in singles play to improve her record to 6-1 on the season as the sophomore recorded two straight-set victories defeating Molloy Camilla Caballero Friday afternoon before ending the week with a win over Viktoriia Pavlovets of STAC.
 
Honor Roll – Gabriella Sciarrotta (Woodmere, N.Y.)
The senior went 2-0 on Saturday evening against STAC as she notched a victory at #1 doubles with a 7-5 comeback win before concluding 
 
Cross Country

Honor Roll – Njehan Phillip (Brooklyn, N.Y.)
Phillip earned a top 30 finish as the Brooklyn native finished 28th with a time of 27.20.0 competing in the NJIT Highlander Challenge.
 
Honor Roll – Alexis Hall (West River, MD)
 
Hall was the top finisher for the Knights placing 36th with a season-best time of 20:50.0 in the women's 5K in the NJIT Highlander Challenge.
