LAKEWOOD, N.J.- Taking part in their second tri-match of the season, the Queens College volleyball team was swept in their tri-match at Georgian Court University on Saturday afternoon.

(15-25, 13-25, 18-25). In game two, the Knights went up against the Golden Rams of West Chester University. The offense was able to find a rhythm but were unable to topple the Golden Rams falling in straight sets
(13-15, 20-25, 22-25).
Game one: Queens 0, Georgian Court 3
How it Happened
- The Knights quickly found themselves trailing 5-0 forcing a Queens timeout.
- Trailing 8-1, the Knights went on a 3-0 to cut the deficit down to 8-4, but the Lions' offense would prove too much in the first set.
- The second set did not bring any change as the Lions went ahead 9-0 in the early going.
- A 4-0 run would bring the Knights within five (9-5), but with the Knights only hitting .042%, they would find themselves trailing 2-0 after two sets.
- The Knights would find rhythm in the third set as they would trade points in the early going.
- Back-to-back kills by freshmen Anjeline Arnakis (Bayside, N.Y.) and junior Dee-Ana Mitchell (Middle Island, N.Y.), the Knights would go on a 4-0 run and take their first lead (17-16) of the day.
- But the young and inexperienced Knights squad were unable to continue the run as the Lions closed out the third set on a 6-0 run to complete the 3-0 sweep.
By the Numbers
- Mitchell and freshmen Christina Franco (Lynbrook, N.Y.) led the Knights with team-high nine kills.
- While sophomore Leila Hadjeb (Queens, N.Y.) tallied 10 digs and one service ace.
- Making her debut freshmen Despina Boudouris (Merrick, N.Y.) recorded her first double-double of the season with 10 digs and team-high 13 assists.
Game Two: Queens 0 (home team), West Chester 3 (visiting team)
How it Happened
- In the early going, the Knights went toe-to-toe with the Golden Rams.
- But a quick 4-0 run by the visitors would give them an 11-6 advantage in which the Knights were unable to recover from as they went on to drop the first set 25-13.
- Led by Franco's three kills, the Knights opened the second set on a 5-0 run before the Golden Rams put together an 8-1 run to go up 8-5.
- But the visitors would use multiple runs to steal the second set to the score of 25-20.
- In the third set, the Knights would find themselves trailing 5-2 but errors by the Golden Rams would allow the Knights to tie the set 8-8.
- Led by Mitchell, the Knights went on a 5-1 run to take a 12-9 lead.
- After a kill by sophomore Alexis Deodat (Riverview, FL) put the Knights up 18-17, the Golden Rams went on a 4-0 run to reclaim a 21-18 lead.
- A kill by junior Genesis Soto (San Juan, Puerto Rico) would bring the Knights within two (23-21) as the Knights looked to force a fourth set.
- But the comeback would fall short as the Knights were unable to avoid a second straight sweep of the day falling 25-22 in the third set.
