#3 Queens vs. #2 STAC

FLUSHING, N.Y.- The East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship gets underway Friday, Oct. 29 at 11:00 a.m.

The Queens College women's tennis team enter the tournament not only as the #3 seed but as the two-time defending East Coast Conference Champions as they get set to defend their crown against #2 St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans at the Queens College Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m. The Knights have advanced to the final of the tournament in 17 of the past 18 seasons. 
 
The 13x ECC Champions Knights finished the 2021 regular season with a 4-2 record, 3-2 in conference play. For the first time in program history, the Knights will enter the championship as the #3 seed. 
 
During the spring 2021 season, head coach Alan Nagel and his squad successfully defended their 2019 crown with a 4-0 victory over the Spartans. - Full Recap
 
Fall 2021
 
The Knights are led by reigning ECC Player of the Year junior Maja Makal (Bialystok, Poland) who finished the regular with a 4-1 record at singles #1 and 6-0 double record. At #2 singles play senior Nathalie Ulander (Stockholm, Sweden) finished the year off strong picking up victories over STAC and Molloy. While Gabriela Sciarrotta (Woodmere, N.Y.) finished with a record of 4-1 with wins coming at singles #2 and #3 on the season.  All three players have found themselves on the ECC Weekly award sheet throughout the season.
 
Last Meeting vs. STAC
In their last meeting against the Spartans, the Knights suffered a 5-2 loss with Ulander and sophomore Chole Certain (Obernai, France) picking up the lone points for the knights in singles play.
 
ECC Championship Bracket
On the other side of the bracket is #1 seed and ECC regular-season champions the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds (9-0, 5-0 ECC) and #4 seed Daemen College Wildcats (4-6, 2-3 ECC). 
 
Queens heartbreakingly opened conference play with a loss on September 25. After the Knights took the doubles points, UDC took the victory in singles play as they defeated Queens 4-3. On Oct. 8, Queens defeated Daemen 6-1 to move to 1-1 in conference play.

The broadcasts will mainly focus on the No. 1 flight in both doubles and singles but will switch to other courts when possible throughout the match.
