#QCMBB Battles High-Scoring Daemen Offense on Sunday

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 9, 2020) – The Queens College men's basketball team could not keep pace in a high-scoring second half as the Knights fell by an 84-74 margin to Daemen on Sunday (Feb. 9) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.

Queens is now 6-15 overall and 4-7 in ECC play while Daemen improves to 19-6 on the year and 8-3 in league competition.

Queens scored the first bucket of the contest as David Grady III put the Knights on the board to begin play. However, Daemen forward Andrew Sischo began his take-over of the game by scoring 11 points and pulling down six rebounds at the mid-point of the half. Daemen would lead the game by a 20-12 margin with 11 minutes remaining in the opening frame before QC went on a 7-0 run as Eddie Mehmetaj and Dwayne Henry Jr. connected on jumpers before Crosdale buried a corner three-ball to bring the Knights within one point at 20-19 with less than eight minutes remaining. Sischo, who had been off the court for substitution purposes, returned to the contest and helped the Wildcats back out to a 38-34 lead at the halftime break. The reigning ECC Preseason Player of the Year was 7-of-8 from the field in the first half with 15 points and six rebounds; Bovell, meanwhile, had 12 points to lead Queens into the locker room.

Daemen came out firing in the second half with the Wildcats, going 10-for-12 to start the period with Sischo continuing to do much of the damage. The red-shirt junior finished the contest with 25 points and 12 rebounds, hitting 12-of-13 from the field. The visitors would shoot 61% (17-28) from the floor in the second half.

Bovell led Queens with 15 points with Henry adding 12 and Shomari Redd pouring in 11. Mehmtaj had eight points and ten rebounds in the effort.
