FLUSHING, N.Y. (Apr. 6, 2019) - Freshman attacker
Chloe Herzog scored five goals and totaled seven points for the Queens College women's lacrosse team as the Knights powered past the University of the District of Columbia on Saturday (Apr. 6) by a final score of 21-3 at Knights Field in Flushing.
Herzog was one of four players for Queens (2-10, 1-3 ECC) to collect a hat trick in the win against the Firebirds (0-10, 0-6 ECC), adding two assists to her game-high points total.
Sarah Koehler had a four-goal game while both
Sarah Kasson and
Lauren Gentile each scored three goals on the day.
Maggie Iavarone added two goals and three assists while
Patriece Ausili scored a pair of goals as well.
Jamie Cavanaugh added her first goal in a Knights uniform and
Nicole Cutrone scored her first marker of the season with
Lauren Hilke and
Shannon Gibbons picking up assists.
Cutrone won a team-high seven ground balls with Ausili and Herzog both scooping up five ground balls. Cutrone also caused four turnovers and Ausili won eight draw controls.
Jess Serpe made two saves in net for the Knights as QC dominated the shots total by a 48-8 margin.
Kianna Franklin had all three goals for UDC in the loss while goalie Jada Foy made twenty saves in net.
The Knights scored the first seven goals of the game and held a 14-3 lead at half, holding the visitors without a goal over the final 42 minutes of playing time.
Queens will host Molloy on Wednesday (Apr. 10) at 4 p.m. in an East Coast Conference match-up at Knights Field.
