MIDDLEBURY, CT - The Queens College women's tennis team returned to dual match action Friday afternoon, defeating perennial Post University 8-1 on the road.
The Knights set the tone for the day with a clean sweep in doubles play. Angelika Sobiecka and Emy Alplund topped Liza Dubrovskaya and Brianna Miah in 1st doubles 8-6. Laura Ortega Jover and Araceli Bel Aleixendri picked up an identical 8-6 victory over Natasha Siku and Madison Young in 2nd doubles. In the final doubles flight, Line Sorsdahl Aasen and Ruth Artaza Martin toppled Sarah Namazi and Jessica Bergen 8-3.
In singles action, Aasen picked up the Knights' first win at 5th singles, topping Bergen 6-1, 6-0. In 6th singles, Bel Alexiendri clinched the match with her 6-0, 6-2 win over Jamie Wilkin. Emy Alplund picked up a 6-1, 6-1 win over Namazi in 4th singles.
The Knights suffered their lone setback of the day in 1st singles, as Dubrovskaya topped Ortega Jover 6-4, 6-0. Sobiecka defeated Miah 6-3, 6-2 in 3rd singles while Artaza Martin closed out the day with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Siku in 2nd singles.
