Women's Hoops Picks Up Runaway Victory At Dowling

OAKDALE, N.Y. - Red-shirt senior MacKenzie Rowland posted a double-double with 24 points and 20 rebounds in the Queens College women's basketball team's 91-42 rout of Dowling Thursday evening in East Coast Conference action.

Rowland shot an incredible 12-for-14 from the field in the game, while also adding five blocks and four assists to her ledger.  Overall, the Knights connected on 56.8% of their attempts as a team, and shot at a 60.0% clip in the second half.

Senior Kristen Korzevinski finished with 22 points, and connected on 11 field goals, to go along with four rebounds and two steals.  Junior Madison Rowland tallied a near triple double with 19 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

The Knights scored the first 21 points of the game, as  Mac. Rowland and Korzevinski combined to net QC's first 14 points.  After the opening 10 minutes, the Knights held a 33-6 lead.

The Knights outscored the Golden Lions by a much smaller margin, 12-10, in the second quarter but held a 45-16 advantage at half.  QC continued to pour it on in the second half, scoring 46 points as they produced their highest scoring output of the season in the victory.

Queens held a 56-16 advantage on points in the paint, to go along with a 22-2 edge on fast break points and 18-3 margin on second chance points.

Krstina Surlan finished with a game high 26 points for Dowling.  The Knights are back in action Saturday afternoon against Bridgeport (1:30 pm).
