COLONIA, N.J. – In the East Coast Conference's Week 14 report released Monday afternoon, Queens College women's basketball junior forward
Nkiru Awaka (Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named Defensive Player of the Week for the fifth time this season.
Across two games, Awaka averaged a double-double, recording 17.0 points on 57.1 percent shooting, 16.0 rebounds, 2.0 blocks, 1.5 steals, and 1.0 assists per game. Awaka began the week with 22 points, 15 rebounds, and one block. On Sunday against STAC, she secured her career-best and ECC-leading 17th double-double of the season with 12 points, 17 rebounds, three blocks, three steals, and two assists. The 17-rebound performance marked the sixth time this season Awaka has collected 15 or more rebounds.
