Amber Harrison's Big Night Leads Knights to 79-57 Win Over Dowling

Flushing, N.Y. - Amber Harrison had a career night in a 79-57 win over Dowling in an East Coast Conference game played at Fitzgerald Gym on Thursday.  The Baldwin, New York, native finished with 17 points on 4-8 shooting from behind the three-point line.


Dowling kept it close for much of the first half, leading early on and then erasing a five-point deficit to even the score at 15-all at 8:59 of the half.  With a 1:17 to go, the Golden Lions trailed 33-29.  Kristen Korzevinski and Imani Davidson each made layups in the final minute to give the Knights a 37-29 lead at the break.


Taylor Miller opened the second half with a basket to put QC up ten, 39-29.  Nearly four minutes later, Korzevinski got a steal and took it coast to coast for a layup to put the Knights up, 49-32.


Queens turned up the defensive pressure the final 11 minutes of the half as they held Dowling to just ten points while scoring 22 points themselves.  The team went on to win 79-57.


The victory was the third straight for QC.  Madison Rowland (16), Taylor Miller (11) and Raychel Shannon (ten) all reached double-figures in scoring to complement Harrison.  The team shot 53.1% in the game.


The Queens College women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 24, when they face Bridgeport in Connecticut at 1:00 PM.
