Women's Tennis Improves to 2-0 with 7-2 Win over Roberts Wesleyan

Rochester, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 2-0 on the season and picked up its first conference win, with a 7-2 victory over Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester, New York on Friday.  The Knights won five singles matches and two of the three doubles flights.

In doubles play, the team of Cami Abdallah and Angelika Sobiecka won at first doubles, 8-2.  The combo of Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako and Andrea Samson took care of business in second doubles, 8-1.  Finally, the pairing of Sumeera Kamil and Molly Fanelli fought hard, but were just edged out, 9-7.

Queens took five points in the singles flight as Plevako won 6-2, 6-3.  Kamil was triumphant in her match, 6-3, 6-2; while Sobiecka dominated by winning love and four.  Samson dropped just one game, coming out ahead, 6-1, 6-0.  Abdallah won 6-0, 6-0.  Finally, Sarah O'Leary won a game in each set, but fell in the end.

The Queens College tennis team returns to the court on Saturday, September 13, when they face Daemen in Amherst, New York.  The first serve is slated for 11:00 AM.
