Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team lost in the East Coast Conference final, 5-3, to NYIT, in a match played on the outdoor tennis courts in Flushing on Saturday. The Knights won two-of-three doubles flights in the match.
The first doubles combination of Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako and Andrea Samson blanked the #1 team of NYIT, 8-0. At third doubles, Sumeera Kamil and Molly Fanelli won via default.
The Knights also picked up a point in singles competition as Sarah O'Leary won via default. Samson and Angelika Sobiecka each won a set in their singles matches as well.
The Knights finished the fall season with a 10-2 overall mark and a 7-1 ECC record. The Knights beat everyone on their schedule except nationally-ranked NYIT. Queens is now up for an at-large bid to the NCAA Championship.
