Queens College Women's Tennis Advances to East Coast Conference Final with 5-0 Blanking of UDC

Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team scored a 5-0 victory over UDC in the semi-final round of the East Coast Conference championship held on the campus of Queens College in Flushing.  Junior, Andrea Samson, won the deciding match for the Knights.

QC swept the doubles flights, as the combination of Angelika Sobiecka and Cami Abdallah, defeated the duo of Maxmie Duijst and Laura Dimante, 8-6.  Earlier in the day, the two Queens College classmates were both named All ECC Second Team.  At second doubles, Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako and Samson came out on top, 8-3.  PLevako was a First Team All ECC selection, while Samson was named to the Second Team.  Finally, the pairing of Sumeera Kamil and Molly Fanelli won their match via default.

In singles, one point went to the Knights via default.  The final point came from Samson, who won her match, 6-0, 6-0.  At the time play was halted, Plevako was ahead, 6-1, 3-0.  Sobiecka won the first set and was tied at 3-3 in the second.  Abdallah had won a set her match and the default victory came from Sarah O'Leary.

The #2 seed Knights will face the top-seed, NYIT, at noon on Saturday, October 25, in the ECC final.  The match will take place on the outdoor tennis courts at Queens College.
