Flushing, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team improved to 8-1 overall and 6-1 in the East Coast Conference with a 9-0 win over LIU Post from the outdoors tennis courts on campus on Saturday. The team clinched second-place in the ECC with the win as they handed the Pioneers just their second ECC defeat of the season.
The Knights swept doubles play as the combination of Cami Abdallah and Angelika Sobiecka won at first doubles, 8-3. The team of Andrea Samson and Yevgeniya (Jenna) Plevako blanked their opponents, 8-0. Finally, the grouping of Sumeera Kamil and Molly Fanelli won via default.
In singles play, Plevako won her match 6-4, 6-4. She handed LIU Post's Didi Fatchikova her first loss in singles for the season. Kamil won at second singles, 6-4, 6-2. Sobiekca was victorious without dropping a game and Samson qon 6-0, 6-2. Finally, Abdallah and Olivia Stauffer won via default in their matches.
The Queens College women's tennis team returns to action on Monday, October 20, when they face Molloy in the regular-season finale. The match is slated to take place at Eisenhower Park on Long Island.
