Queens, N.Y. - It was another outstanding
performance for the Queens College women's tennis team on
Saturday, as they blanked the Daemen College Wildcats, 9-0, in a
match played on the tennis courts in Flushing. With the win,
the Knights improved to 5-1 overall.
Once again, Queens dominated the doubles flights, as they were
victorious in all three matches in straight sets, dropping just one
game in total. The combination of Aylin Mehter and Jenna
Plevako won, 8-1. The second position saw Darby Brandon and
Jennifer Fridman win, 8-0, while Andrea Samson and Anna Rodionova
dominated their match, 8-0, as well.
In singles play, Weronika Kurka made a rare appearance in the
first position, and she won easily, 6-3, 6-2. Plevako won her
match, 6-0, 6-0; while Mehter and Samson triumphed by the same love
and love score. Finally Brandon and Kim Xiong closed out play
with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 wins.
The Queens College women's tennis team returns to action
on Saturday, October 5, when they travel to our nation's
capital for an East Coast Conference matchup with the District of
Columbia. The first serve is slated for noon.
