Queens College Women's Tennis Improves to 2-0 in Conference Play with 9-0 Win over LIU Post

Queens, N.Y. - The Queens College women's tennis team continued its hot play on Tuesday, with a 9-0 shutout of LIU Post from the Queens College tennis courts n Flushing.  With the victory, the Knights improved to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in East Coast Conference play.

For the third straight matchup of the season, QC won every singles and doubles match in straight sets, once again displaying its on-court dominance.  The Knights won all three flights in doubles play.  From the first position, Weronika Kurka and Jenna Plevako triumphed, 8-2.  The other two doubles matches were won by Queens, 8-0 as Aylin Mehter and Jennifer Fridman  were playing second doubles; with Andrea Samson and Darby Brandon competing in the third spot.

In singles competition, Plevako won at first singles, 6-2, 6-1.  Next, Fridman took care of her opponent, 6-2, 6-1.  In third singles, Samson emerged victorious, 6-0, 6-2.  Brandon followed up her doubles win with a victory in singles, love and love.  In fact, in her singles and doubles play, Brandon didn't drop any games.  Anna Rodionova won her match from the fifth slot, 6-1, 6-0.  Finally, Kim Xiong was victorious in the final singles, match, 6-2, 6-0.

The Knights have a huge match on Wednesday as they face ECC foe and rival, NYIT in Old Westbury.  The first serve is slated for 3:00 PM.
