Queens, N.Y. - The Queens College women's
tennis team continued its national dominance with a 7-0 win over
St. Peters on Friday. The Knights are now 11-1 overall and
improved to a 26th national ranking, and a
2nd ranking in the East Region.
The highlight for the Knights came in Erika Goldsmith's
upset win over highly-ranked Alex Livingston of the Peahens.
Goldsmith took the match in straight sets, 6-3 and 6-3. Also
for the Knights, Francesca Fanchin, Andrea Samson and Jennifer
Fridman needed three sets for their wins, while Anna Rodionova and
Daniela Celi won in straight sets.
The doubles matches included the debut of newcomer, Weronika
Kurka, who teamed with Rodionova to win their doubles match,
8-3.
