The Queens College women's tennis team advanced to the ECC
final on Saturday with a victory over #4 Molloy on Friday afternoon
from the Queens College tennis courts in Flushing, New York.
The top-seeded Knights won every match against the Lions during
their semi-final matchup and will face NYIT for the conference
championship.
In singles play, Erika Goldsmith (Edison, N.J./Edison), won her
match 6-2, unfinished. Francesca Fanchin (New York,
N.Y./LaGuardia) won 4-4, unfinished, while Andrea Samson (Key
Biscayne, Fla. La Salle) took care of her opponent, 6-3, 1-0,
unfinished. From the fourth position, Jennifer Fridman (Port
Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) won her match, 6-3, 1-0,
unfinished, and the final two Knights' players, Anna
Rodionova (Orenburg, Russia/Schiller International) and Daniela
Celi (Casselbury, Fla. /Lake Howell), each won in straight
sets.
The doubles matches saw Goldsmith and Fridman win 8-4, Samson
and Fanchin won 8-2 and Rodionova and Celi were victorious 8-0.
The team improved to a perfect 10-0 on the season, and will face
NYIT for the championship at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 6.
