The Knights' offense produced big time in a 4-1 victory over the
College of St. Rose in a non-conference tilt played in Flushing.
The four goals scored matches QC's entire ouput thus far this
season.
After surrendering the first shot attempt of the contest just
1:48 in, the Knights took control, pelting the St. Rose goal with
14 consecutive shots. The first of those shots to beat goalkeeper
Alexander Parent came off of the foot of Brian Buckmire,
who picked up his first of the season at the 14:42 mark.
QC increased their advantage to 2-0 less than nine minutes later
when Eric Vazquez took a pass from Santiago Bedoya and used his
left foot to score his first goal of 2010. The first half ended
with the Knights holding a 2-0 lead and a 15-2 advantage in
shots.
St. Rose went on the attack in the second half and cut the
Knights lead in half when Taras Panchishak used his head to
redirect a Liam Barrett free kick past QC goalie Demetrios Touros
at 70:12. Jose Aguije responded for the Knights by assisting on one
goal and scoring another in a 26 second span to put the game out of
reach. With 79:20 elapsed in the game, Aguije dribbled to the end
line and found Akinyode Dele with a crossing pass that Dele headed
home to make it a 3-1 game. Aguije then converted on a nice give
and go wall pass with Danny Stoker for his first of the year to
close out the scoring for the day.
Stoker had eight shots - four on goal - to go along with
his assist and Touros made three saves to preserve his first
victory in net as a Knight.
