At Cardozo High School Karen started her career as captain andMVP of the junior varsity team. As a sophomre she moved up tovarsity and was named captain for 2007-08, when she received thecoaches award and her team was a finalist at the PSALChampionships.

Karen also was captain of the gymnastics team and the handballat Cardozo. Amoung the honors she received were the four yearaward, the scholar athlete award, the MVP award and the HeismanWingate award.
