Born in Yichun, China, Jin-Xiang was raised in Sapporo,Japan.

Jin-Xiang played for the varsity volleyball team at HokkaidoInternatioal School in Sapporo, Japan for six years. At Hokkaido,she was chosen team captain and Most Valuable Player from2005-2007. In 2004 and 2007 Jin-Xiang was named MVP at the NagoyaInternational School Tournament and in 2006 she won the BestOutstanding Setter award at the Osaka International SchoolTournament.
