QCVB Stefan Leger

Stefan Leger

Leger (2019- Current) enters his fifth year in charge of the women’s volleyball program and sixth overall after serving the 2018 season as an assistant coach.

In four seasons as the head coach Leger has guided the program to a total of 31 wins including back to back double-double digits wins in 2022 and 2023 which saw the team return to East Coast Conference play including the #2 seed in 2022 (the highest finish since the 2004 season).

In 2023 Leger would guide the Knights to another successful year as the team posted their first winning season since 2008 as they finished with an overall record of 13-11 and 7-5 in ECC play and a consecutive ECC postseason spot earning the #4 seed. It would be the first winning season in 15 years which saw a record of record at home (6-6), and away (5-5) while going undefeated with a record of 2-0 on a neutral court. Three Knights earned All-ECC honors.

After a pause year in 2020 due to COVID-19 and a rebuilding year in 2021 which saw Queens double their wins total from 2019, the 2022 year would be the Knights’ first .500 regular season since 2008 as they recorded a 12-12 year during the regular season and a 6-4 in ECC play, the highest wins total since the 2008 season. Three Knights would earn All-ECC honors including Ryann Frontera being named ECC Libero of the Year, the first in program history. Queens would return to ECC postseason play for the first time since 2008 as the #2 seed.

The 2019 campaign saw the club welcome six new players as Leger’s first season saw the club finish with more victories and sets. The Knights saw several players produce great individual seasons as Lauren Kehoe moved into the top-20 in career kills and top-15 in career block assists. Dee-Ana Mitchell also performed as she was selected to the ECC Volleyball Weekly Honor Roll sheet.

Following a strong playing career at Division III NYU-Poly, in which he finished second in all of Division III in the blocks per set category in 2012, Leger joined the volleyball coaching staff at Lawrence Middle School and Lawrence High School in 2014. He proceeded to be part of the Skyline Conference Coaching Staff of the Year when he joined Farmingdale State for the 2016 season.

Leger is also a coach at the Long Island Volleyball Academy.
