Football actually was Jeremiah Mordi''s first sport and he did not play organized basketball until the ninth grade.

Jeremiah, who is a native of Lagos, Nigeria, was all-Conference in his junior year at Valley Stream Central High School and all-County as a senior. He was the leading scorer in the post-season Nassua all-star game and in the Hempstead (Robert Moore) summer league.

At Valley Stream Central, Jeremiah, who is ambidextrous, was a student representative with the SCORR program and was vote most athletic and homecoming king.
