Nikko Callender enters his first season as an assistant coach part of head coach Matt Collier coaching staff.
In 2019-20 Callender was the Director of Recruiting and Player Development at NYIT in his first season with the Bears. He helped lead the Bears to postseason play for the first time in five seasons.
His coaching career began in 2014 at Mineola HS, where he was named back-to-back JV Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2015. He then joined the Baldwin HS coaching staff in 2016 where he earned JV Coach of the Year in 2018 and produced an overall record of 48-9 in three seasons.
A former DII student-athlete, Callender was a three-year starter, two-year captain at Concordia College (N.Y.). He became one of 2 student-athletes in school history to reach 75 plateau in every major stat category — blocks, steals, points, rebounds, and assists.
Currently, he is working with Level Up LI as the Director for Basketball.
