Prior to Queens: Transferred to QC from Concordia College (NY)... was All-Conference in his junior year of high school and All-County as a senior pitcher for Plainview JFK... posted a 5-1 record with a 1.14 ERA in 44 innings as a junior... bettered that as a senior with a 0.80 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 44 innings pitched... also hit three home runs in his two seasons with the Hawks, batting .300 or better in both years... was also a member of the volleyball and basketball teams at Plainview JFK.

Personal: Parents are Mildred and Thomas O''Brien... has one older brother, Tim... chose Queens for the education and the ability to continue playing baseball... enjoys boxing, playing beach volleyball and weightlifting... favorite athlete is UFC fighter Conor McGregor and would most like to meet New York Knicks guard Ron Baker... enjoys hip-hop, steak and the TV show "24"... plans on becoming an accountant post-graduation... majoring in Accounting.
