FLUSHING, N.Y. – Opening East Coast Conference play Saturday afternoon, regionally-ranked No. 5 Queens College men's soccer welcomed the Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks to Knights Field.
In a battle between the 2025 conference champions, the Knights earned a convincing 3-0 victory, led by the sophomore trio of
Marko Borovic,
Bradyn Brown, and
Taro Aboubakary. Borovic opened the scoring with the game-winning goal before Brown and Aboubakary added second-half tallies to lead Queens to victory.
With the victory, Queens improves to 6-1-1 on the season and opens ECC play with a victory for the fifth consecutive season.
MATCH RECAP
In a match that saw Queens dictate the pace of play throughout all 90 minutes, the Knights held the Redhawks to just two shots while recording 24 of their own.
The Knights opened the contest with three shots in the opening 15 minutes, including a shot on goal from Aboubakary.
Roberts Wesleyan recorded its lone shot of the first half in the 18th minute, but the attempt was blocked as Queens quickly shifted momentum back in its favor.
As the Knights continued to press forward, Queens earned a free kick from 20 yards out in the 34th minute. Borovic stepped up to the mark and curled a left-footed shot into the top-right corner to give Queens a 1-0 lead.
Queens opened the second half with the same intensity and quickly doubled its advantage. Senior
Andrew Johnson's initial shot was saved before Brown put away the rebound to give the Knights a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.
With Queens continuing to dictate the pace of play, senior
Jason Udo and Borovic combined to find Aboubakary in the 78th minute. Aboubakary finished the chance to put the Knights ahead 3-0 and seal the victory.

The Knights conclude their homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 23, as they welcome the College of Staten Island Dolphins to Knights Field for ECC play. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
