COLONIA, N.J. – On the second East Coast Conference weekly report, three Queens College baseball Knights earned conference recognition. Senior shortstop Nick Piazza (Queens, N.Y.) was named Player of the Week, rookie center fielder John Harkins (Babylon, N.Y.) collected Rookie of the Week honors, and senior left-hander Robert Nunez (Manhattan, N.Y.) secured a spot on the Honor Roll.

Player of the Week

Piazza delivered a scorching weekend at the plate, batting .778 with a 1.818 OPS and a perfect 1.000 slugging percentage. He went 7-for-9 overall, adding one triple, two walks, and four runs scored. Piazza recorded three multi-hit performances, highlighted by consecutive 5-for-5 efforts against SNHU and Adelphi. In the win over Adelphi, the Queens native went 3-for-3 with a run scored.

Rookie of the Week

Harkins enjoyed an outstanding debut weekend for the Knights, batting .500 with a 1.071 OPS and a .500 slugging percentage. He totaled six hits, three RBI, three runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. In his collegiate debut against SNHU, Harkins went 4-for-6 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI. In the victory over Adelphi, the rookie finished 1-for-3 with a walk, two RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base.

Honor Roll

Nunez delivered a strong performance in his first start of the season, leading the Knights to their first victory of the year. Nunez surrendered just two hits and two unearned runs across five innings, adding two walks and one strikeout in the 8-2 win over Adelphi.

Queens returns home to host Franklin Pierce University Ravens for a four-game series. More details will be announced later.
