NEW YORK, N.Y. – On Tuesday, January 27, Met Basketball Writers Associations announced that Queens College women's basketball junior forward
Nkiru Awaka (Hyde Park, N.Y.) was named to the MBWA Division II/III Honorable Mention list.
The recognition marks the third MBWA honor of the season for Awaka, who has now earned back-to-back Honorable Mentions to go along with one Player of the Week award this year.
Last week Awaka averaged a double-double on the week, posting 16.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. The Hyde Park native opened the week with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and a steal against Mercy on Wednesday evening. She followed up with her ECC-leading and matched a career-best 12th double-double on Saturday at home, finishing with 13 points and 13 rebounds while tying a career-high five blocks and adding an assist against STAC.
