DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – Opening the week on the road, the Queens College men's basketball team traveled to Dobbs Ferry to face Mercy University Mavericks inside the Neil Judge Student Athlete Center in East Coast Conference action Wednesday evening.
Three Knights scored in double figures, led by rookie
Henri Mennander (Helsinki, Finland), who recorded a team-high
18 points. Senior forward
Tahj-Malik Campbell (Philadelphia, PA) posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while junior guard
Ahmad Galimore (Bronx, N.Y.) added a season-high 12 points.
In a back-and-forth contest, Mercy cut Queens' advantage to three with 6:09 remaining, but an 8–0 Knights run down the stretch sealed a 69–61 victory.
The win marked Queens' sixth of the season and second in ECC play, and its first victory in Dobbs Ferry since the 2022–23 season, when the Knights earned an 82–56 road win.
GAME RECAP
Mercy opened the game with an 8–2 lead by the 17:15 mark before a layup from Campbell and six straight points from Mennander fueled a 10–8 Queens advantage at 15:36.
After the Mavericks answered with a 4–0 run, Mennander sparked another surge, converting a layup at the 14:25 mark to begin a 9–2 Knights run that gave Queens a 19–15 lead with 11:50 remaining in the half.
Timely scoring from junior guard
Williams Guzman (Corona, N.Y.), Galimore, and junior guard
Johnny Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) helped Queens maintain control, extending the lead to 27–18 with 6:22 to play. Mercy responded with a 7–0 run to close within two, 27–25, before Galimore scored five straight points to push the lead back to seven.
Another late surge by the Mavericks trimmed the margin to 34–32 at halftime.
Queens opened the second half with balanced scoring, using an 11–4 run to stretch its lead to 45–36 by the 15:22 mark.
Each time Mercy threatened to close the gap, the Knights responded.
With 6:09 remaining, Mercy pulled within two, 55–53, but Queens answered emphatically. A layup from Mennander, followed by back-to-back three-pointers from junior guard
David Teele (Harlem, N.Y.) and Galimore capped an 8–0 run, giving Queens its first double-digit lead of the night at 63–52.
The Knights would not relinquish the advantage, securing the 69–61 ECC road win.

- Mennander led the Knights with 18 points on seven field goals, adding eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and one steal.
- Campbell recorded his team-leading eighth double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds, along with four steals and one assist.
- Galimore finished with a season-best 12 points, six rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.
- Junior guard Dontae Prescott (Coney Island, N.Y.) contributed an all-around effort with six points, six assists, five steals, two rebounds, and one block.
