FLUSHING, N.Y. – Returning to Knights Field Wednesday afternoon, the Queens College women's soccer team welcomed defending NE10 and East Regional Champions Franklin Pierce University Ravens in non-conference play.
Matching against the nationally-ranked #6 team Ravens, the Knights notched four shots but would fall to the final score of 4-0 to begin a tough two-match week.

On a day where the Ravens controlled the pace of the match from start to finish, the Knights battled throughout, hoping for an upset.
The Ravens opened the scoring in the 12
th minute of the contest to take an early 1-0 lead.
As sophomore goalie
Samantha Hines-Hirsch (Plainview, N.Y.) recorded her third save of the match through the first 20 minutes, Queens would get their first opportunity, courtesy of a shot on goal from junior forward
Jenna Rosenberger (Smithtown, N.Y) in the 22
nd minute of play. But it would be a timely save from the Ravens' goalie to keep the Knights off the scoreboard.
With the Knights keeping their deficit at 1-0, Queens would earn a set piece in the 38
th minute of play. Creating their second opportunity of the first half, junior midfielder
Anna Tavantzis (Holbrook, N.Y.) shot just missed as she was unable to tie the match.
The Ravens doubled their advantage in the 50
th minute of play for a 2-0 lead.
With limited opportunity to press the Ravens' defense, Rosenberger recorded her second shot on the goal in the 66
th minute of play, but it would be another timely save from the Ravens' goalie.
As the Ravens found the back of the net in the 77
th minute of play for a 3-0 advantage, Ravens goalie would deny sophomore forward
Abigail Jalocha's (Maspeth, N.Y. ) shot on goal in the 78
th minute before the visitors closed out the scoring in the 80
th minute of play to earn a 4-0 victory over Queens.

- Rosenberger and Jalocha combined for three shots on goal, while Tavantzis recorded a shot.
- In goal, Hines-Hirsch recorded a season-best nine saves.
- The Knights were outshot 18-4, and 13-3 shots on goal.
