Women’s Basketball Concludes Non-Conference Home Slate Against Georgian Court

FLUSHING, N.Y. – Closing out their final non-conference home game of the 2025–26 season, the Queens College women's basketball team welcomed Georgian Court University to Fitzgerald Gymnasium on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Junior guard Daja White (Queens, N.Y.) and sophomore forward Chinyere Ukaegbu (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paced the Knights, combining for 27 points. White led all Queens scorers with 17 points, while Ukaegbu added 10. Slow starts in the first and third quarters proved costly, as the Knights fell to the Lions, 76–53.

GAME RECAP

Queens jumped out to an early 7–4 lead at the 6:10 mark of the opening quarter, but Georgian Court responded with a 9–0 run to take a 13–7 advantage with one minute remaining.
 
Two made free throws from junior guard Shellby Mcgill (Bronx, N.Y.) halted the run, sending the Knights into the second quarter trailing 13–9.
 
The second quarter saw both teams combine for 50 points, with the Lions scoring 29 and the Knights adding 21. Georgian Court opened the frame on a 14–2 run to build a 27–11 lead with 6:46 remaining.
 
Queens later found themselves down 20, 42–22, with 1:51 left before halftime. Led by White, the Knights closed the quarter on an 8–0 run to cut the deficit to 42–30 heading into the locker room.
 
Queens carried momentum into the third quarter, cutting the deficit to 10 points twice, but timely baskets from Georgian Court allowed the Lions to maintain control and secure the 76–53 victory.

BY THE NUMBERS:

  • White finished with a team-high 17 points, five rebounds, a career-high four steals, and one assist.
  • Ukaegbu tied a career-best 10 points to go with five steals, four rebounds, and one block.
  • Rookie Enise Hodzic (Queens, N.Y.) contributed eight points, three rebounds, and one assist.
  • Sophomore forward Jaeda Hall (Saint Albans, N.Y.) posted a season-best six points and six rebounds.

NEXT GAME:

Head coach Travis Ponton and the Knights return to East Coast Conference play on Saturday, January 10, traveling to Rockville Centre, N.Y., for a matchup with Molloy University. Tip-off is scheduled for noon.
