STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Returning to East Coast Conference play on Saturday afternoon, the Queens College women's soccer team traveled to Staten Island to take on the College of Staten Island Dolphins at Dolphins Soccer Park.
Controlling the match with a 28-4 shot margin and 14-0 shots on goal, the Knights finished with a scoreless draw, their second tie in a row in ECC play.
With the draw, the Knights move to 1-2-2 in ECC play and remain in the top six as the postseason race heats up. With two ECC matches left, Queens looks to lock in a top-six finish and secure their third straight ECC Championship appearance.

It was a quiet opening 10 minutes as both sides were held without a shot until the Dolphins registered the first attempt of the match in the 12th minute, which sailed wide left.
Queens responded quickly, with redshirt-sophomore defender
Ava Lekanides (Garden City, N.Y.) recording the Knights' first shot on goal in the 13th minute, but her effort was denied by the Dolphins' goalkeeper.
The Knights continued to control possession and apply pressure while the defense held the Dolphins out of the attacking third. Queens maintained the offensive push, outshooting the Dolphins 4-0 in shots on goal during the first half.

Rebecca Pino (Bellport, N.Y.) each tallied shots on target in the final 15 minutes, but the match remained scoreless at halftime.
The Dolphins opened the second half with two quick shots, but Queens soon took control and shifted the momentum.
In response, the Knights dominated the remainder of the match, outshooting the Dolphins 16-0, including a 10-0 advantage in shots on goal. Despite the offensive pressure, Queens was held to a scoreless draw, earning their fifth point in ECC play.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Lekanides and junior midfielder Ashley Kieblesz (Middle Village, N.Y.) combined for 13 shots, including eight shots on goal, to lead the Knights' offensive attack.
- In goal, sophomore goalie Samantha Hines-Hirsch (Plainview, N.Y.) and the backline kept the Dolphins off the scoreboard by holding them to zero shots on target, earning Hines-Hirsch her fourth clean sheet of the year and second in ECC play.

Continuing their ECC road slate, the Knights travel to Rockville Centre, N.Y., on Wednesday, October 22, to face the defending champions, the Molloy University Lions. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
