Coach Ponton Era Begins as Queens College Women's Basketball Unveils 2025–26 Schedule

FLUSHING, N.Y. – A new chapter begins in Flushing as first-year head coach Travis Ponton and the Queens College women's basketball team officially announce their 2025–2026 season schedule.
 
The upcoming season features a full 28-game slate, including 12 home games, 14 road contests, and 2 neutral-site matchups. The Knights will square off against three teams that reached the NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament last season and face 16 programs that qualified for their respective conference tournaments.
 
Queens opens the season with five consecutive road games, beginning in Rockville Centre, N.Y., where they will compete in the ECC x CACC Conference Challenge hosted by Molloy University Lions. The Knights tip off the year on Saturday, November 15, against the Thomas Jefferson University Rams, followed by a matchup with the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Sunday, November 16. The Rams concluded last season with a 24–8 record and earned the No. 7 seed in the NCAA East Regional Tournament, while the Griffins finished 16–13 in 2024.
 
The road trip continues with games against the Caldwell University Cougars on Wednesday, November 19, the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday, November 22, and the Adelphi University Panthers on Tuesday, November 25. The Cougars are coming off a solid 17–13 campaign in 2024, while the Purple Knights struggled to a 3–28 finish, and the Panthers closed out the season at an even 15–15.
 
The home opener is set for Saturday, November 29, as Queens returns to Fitzgerald Gymnasium to host the Knights Thanksgiving Invitational. The Knights will face the Franklin Pierce University Ravens in their first home game of the season, followed by a matchup against the Saint Anselm College Hawks on Sunday, November 30. Molloy University completes the four-team field and will compete in neutral-site games against both visiting programs throughout the weekend. The Ravens posted a 9–18 record last season, while the Hawks finished 18–10 and earned the No. 4 seed in the East Regional Tournament.
 
East Coast Conference (ECC) play begins in December with road games against the Daemen University Wildcats on Friday, December 5, and the D'Youville University Saints on Sunday, December 7. The Wildcats are coming off another ECC Championship season, finishing 22–8 overall and 15–1 in ECC play to earn the No. 2 seed in the East Regional Tournament. The Saints went 10–16 overall, 8–8 in ECC play, and secured the No. 4 seed in the ECC Tournament.
 
Queens returns home for non-conference matchups against the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen on Wednesday, December 10, and the Roberts Wesleyan University Redhawks on Sunday, December 14. The Penmen finished with a 12–16 record in 2024, while the Redhawks went 2–21 overall, including 2–14 in ECC play.
 
The Knights continue on the road with games against the Felician University Golden Falcons on Wednesday, December 17, and the American International College Yellow Jackets on Saturday, December 20, before closing out the calendar year at home against the Georgian Court University Lions on Wednesday, December 31. The Golden Falcons finished 11–18, the Yellow Jackets went 13–16, and the Lions posted a 6–22 mark last season.
 
2026 opens with an ECC matchup on the road against Molloy University on Saturday, January 10. The Lions went 16–14 overall and 8–8 in ECC play to earn the No. 5 seed in the conference tournament.
 
Queens then hosts the Daemen Wildcats (January 16) and the D'Youville Saints (January 18) at Fitzgerald Gymnasium. The Knights hit the road again to face the Mercy University Mavericks on Wednesday, January 21. The Mavericks finished the 2024 season 18–10 overall, 11–5 in ECC play, and secured the No. 3 seed in the ECC Tournament.
 
The month continues with a home game against the St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans on Saturday, January 24. The Spartans went 4–22 overall and 2–14 in ECC play. Queens then visits the College of Staten Island Dolphins on Wednesday, January 28. The Dolphins wrapped up their season at 21–9 overall and 13–3 in ECC play, earning the No. 2 seed.
 
January concludes with a home matchup against the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday, January 31. The Firebirds finished 10–17 overall and 8–8 in ECC competition.
 
February features three home games and three road contests to close out the regular season. Queens opens the month by hosting the Molloy Lions on Wednesday, February 4. The Knights conclude non-conference play on the road on Wednesday, February 11, against the Post University Eagles, who posted a 10–19 record last season.
 
Queens then travels to face the Redhawks on Sunday, February 15, before returning home to take on the Mavericks on Wednesday, February 18.
 
The Knights hit the road to face the Spartans on Sunday, February 22, host the Dolphins on Wednesday, February 25, and wrap up the regular season on Saturday, February 28, against the UDC Firebirds in Washington, D.C.
 
The ECC Postseason Tournament begins on Wednesday, March 4, with first-round games hosted by the No. 3 and No. 4 seeds. The semifinals will take place on Saturday, March 7, and the championship game is scheduled for Sunday, March 8. Both the semifinals and the final will be hosted by the No. 1 seed.
