MBB Game Day Preview: Men’s Basketball Continues Non-Conference Play with Two Games in Flushing

FLUSHING, N.Y. – A two-game week for the Queens College men's basketball team as the Knights continue to non-conference play as they open their second two-game homestand of the year.
 
Last week the Knights earned back-to-back wins defeating American International College at home Wednesday evening before earning a road victory over Goldey-Beacom College Saturday afternoon.

Queens College Knights Outlook

  • Queens enters the week on a two-game win streak and take a 2-3 overall record as they welcome two non-conference foes to Flushing.
  • As a team, the Knights are averaging 63.0 PPG on 38.9% shooting, 31.8 RPG, 10.2 APG, 6.4 SPG, and 4.4 BPG.
  • Senior guard Shamar Chester (Queens, N.Y.) is tied for first in points per game with 9.8 and is averaging 4.4 RPG and 2.2 APG.
    • Chester recorded a season-high 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting to go with three rebounds, one assist and one steal against Adelphi on Saturday, Nov. 9.
    • The senior needs 123 points to join the 1K Points club.
  • Senior forward Damiri Lindo (Oakland, CA) is tied for first in points per game with 9.8, PPG, and is averaging 2.8 RPG and 2.0 SPG.
    • Lindo recorded a season-high 16 points on 7-of-8 shooting to go with three rebounds and two steals in the victory over Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, Nov. 23.
    • On Monday, Nov. 25 Lindo earned his first East Coast Conference MBB Honor Roll spot of the year for his two-game performance last week.
  • In the 2024-2025 ECC Coaches Preseason Poll head Coach Matt Collier's squad has been voted to finish sixth earning 38 points and earning the last spot of the six-team ECC Men's Basketball Postseason Tournament. (Link)

Opponents Outlook

In week four of the season, the Knights welcome the Eagles of Post University to town on Tuesday, Nov. 26 before hosting the Lions of Georgian Court University on Sunday, December 1.

  • Post enters the week with an overall record of 4-2 and are coming off a 1-1 week against Nationally and East Regionally ranked opponents with a victory over St. Thomas Aquinas and a loss to Daemen University.
  • Last season the Eagles advanced to the CACC and NCAA East Regional Semifinal games.
  • Entering Tuesday's matchup the Eagles are ranked fourth in the D2 CSC East Region Poll. Post is the third ranked opponent Queens are matching up against through the first four weeks of the season.
  • Wednesday's game will be the fifth overall meeting between both sides with the Knights searching for their first-ever win over their non-conference foe.

Georgian Court University

Last Win: 83-68 (1/6/24)
Last Loss: 58-63 (11/27/19)
  • Georgian Court enters the week with an overall record of 0-5 and will match up against Kutztown on Tuesday evening before traveling to Flushing on Sunday morning.
  • Sunday's meeting will be the sixth overall meeting between both sides with the Knights trailing All-Time series to the record of 2-3.
  • The Knights are on a two-game win streak over the Lions having defeated their non-conference foe in Flushing on November 29, 2021, to the score of 75-51 and earned a road win on January 6, 2024, to the final score of 83-68.

Week Five Outlook

Two games on the slate as the Knights open the week with a road trip to Vermont on Tuesday, Dec. 3 against the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College before opening East Coast Conference play at home on Saturday, Dec. 7 against the Lions of Molloy University.
