FLUSHING, N.Y. – Opening a two-game homestand Saturday afternoon the Queens College men's basketball team welcomed the Griffins of Chestnut Hill College to Fitzgerald Gymnasium in non-conference play.
The duo of junior center
Omari Byrd (Ypsilanti, MI.) and senior forward
Damiri Lindo (Oakland, CA.) combined for 17 points but second-half shooting woes would hurt the Knights as they fell to the final score of 68-50 Saturday afternoon.

It would be an early back-and-forth affair as both teams traded buckets.
As the Knights took an 8-6 lead behind a layup from junior guard
Jade Tse (Queens, N.Y.), the Griffins would knock down back-to-back threes to take a 12-8 lead with 15:09 on the clock.
Queens answered with an 8-2 run as they took a 15-14 lead with 12:51 left in the first half. Both sides would continue to answer each bucket for bucket and with the Knights leading 27-26 behind Tse's layup, the Griffins would end the final 4:39 of the first half on an 8-0 run as they took a seven-point lead of 34-27 into the locker rooms.
The Knights opened the second half scoring as a layup from Byrd got the home team within five, 34-29 at the 19:33 mark.
But cold shooting over the next six and half minutes of play would see the home team fall behind and unable to recover as the Knights fell in their home opener to the final score of 68-50.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Byrd notched a team-high nine points (4-of-4 FG | 1-of-2 FT) to go with four rebounds and two blocks.
- Lindo recorded eight points (3-of-8 FG | 1-of-2 3PT | 1-of-1 FT) to go with four rebounds and one steal.
- As a team Queens shot 20-of-59 from the field (33.9%), 3-of-19 from distance (15.8%), and 7-of-14 at the free line (50.0 %).

The Knights conclude the homestand on Wednesday, Nov. 20 as they welcome the Yellow Jackets of American International College to town. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m.
