FLUSHING, N.Y. – The Queens College women's volleyball team went 1-1 last week as the Knights' earned an East Coast Conference sweep before falling in a tough five-set loss in non-conference play.
Last week the Knights defeated Molloy University in three sets in ECC play on Thursday evening before falling in a heartbreak five-set loss to West Chester University in non-conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Queens College Knights Preview (2024 Record: 16-7 overall, 6-1 ECC)
- Through the first eight weeks of the regular season, head coach Stefan Leger and the Knights boast an overall record of 16-7, 6-1 ECC, and enter week nine of the season coming off a 1-1 week.
- As a team, the Knights have recorded 1053 kills averaging 11.7 per set, 992 assists averaging 11.0 per set, 190 service aces averaging 2.1 per set, and 156.5 total blocks averaging 1.7 per set.
- In the 2024 East Coast Conference Coaches' Preseason Poll, the Knights have been tabbed to finish fourth and take the last postseason spot earning 26 total points. (Link)
- Junior outside hitter Kendall Conrad (Carrolltown, PA) leads the offense having recorded a team-high 221 kills and 23 service aces to go with two double-doubles
- Conrad recorded a season-best 17 kills in the victor over D'Youville Saturday (10.5), 14 digs in the victory over Roberts Wesleyan Sunday afternoon, and tied a career-best five service aces against Pittsburgh-Johnston on Saturday (9.14)
- The junior earned three ECC Honor Roll spots through the first seven ECC Weekly Report Sheets.
- Freshman setter/right side Madi Hathaway (Edmond, OK) has recorded 193 kills on a .245 hitting %, 187 digs, 229 assists, and 34 service aces.
- The Edmond native has recorded six triple-doubles and seven double-doubles notching a career-high 18 kills on a .342 hitting % against Bridgeport, 27 assists against East Stroudsburg, 19 digs against Post, and 13 service aces against Holy Family
- On Monday (Oct. 28) Hathaway earned her seventh spot on the ECC Women's Volleyball Weekly Report Sheet as she was named Player and Rookie of the Week for the third time this year.
- On the year Hathaway has earned three ECC Player of the Week, five Rookie of the Week honors, and one Honor Roll spot on the Weekly Report Sheet.
- The rookie is ranked third in the nation with six Triple-Doubles.
- Junior libero Sarah Munn (Torrance, CA) leads the team in digs (408) and has recorded 30 service aces to go with one double-double.
- On Monday (Oct. 7) Munn earned her third straight spot on the ECC Weekly Report Sheet as she was named on the Honor Roll sheet.
- She was named ECC Defensive Player of the Week on September 9.
- The junior notched her first career double-double against Post on Sept. 7 with 20 digs and 11 assists.
- Munn recorded a program and career-best 35 digs against D'Youville on Oct. 6.
- Senior setter Despina Boudouris (Athens, Greece) has recorded 558 assists, 161 digs, and 21 service aces to go with five double-doubles.
- On Friday, Sept. 13, Boudouris became the sixth player in program history to surpass the 2K Assist mark.
- On Wednesday, Sept. 25 the senior recorded a career-best five service aces in the victory over Holy Family.
- On the year Boudouris has earned five ECC Honor Roll spots (9.9 | 9.16 | 9.30 | 10.21 | 10.28).
Opponent Outlook
The Knights open conclude their five-match road stand beginning with their final non-conference match of the year on Thursday, Oct. 31 as they travel to West Haven, CT against the Chargers of the University of New Haven. Returning to ECC play, Queens heads to Western New York for two matches beginning with a stop in Amherst against the Wildcats of Daemen University on Saturday, Nov. 2 before concluding the trip in Buffalo against the Saints of D'Youville University on Sunday, Nov. 3.

- The Chargers enter the week with an overall record of – and are coming off
- Thursday's match will be the 22nd overall meeting against the Chargers with the Knights trailing the All-Time series to a record of 5-16.
- Queens is in search of their first win over New Haven since October 18, 2005, when the Knights earned a 3-1 victory in Flushing, while the last road victory came on October 12, 2004, when the Knights swept the Chargers 3-0 in West Haven.

- The Wildcats enter the week with an overall record of 13-6 and 5-2 in ECC play and are coming off a 3-1 victory over D'Youville in ECC play on Thursday evening.
- It is the second meeting of the year against the Wildcats with Queens looking to complete the series sweep for the first time since the 2014 season. The Knights are looking for their first road victory in Amherst since November 1, 2014, when Queens earned a 3-1 victory.
D'Youville University Preview

- Last Loss: 0-3 (10/23/21)
- The Saints enter the week with an overall record of 8-13 and 4-3 in ECC play and will host Molloy on Saturday afternoon before hosting Queens on Sunday afternoon.
- It is the second meeting of the year against the Saints with Queens looking to complete the series sweep for the third straight season.
Week Ten Outlook
Leger and the Knights wrap up their home portion of the regular season with their lone match of the week on Sunday, Nov. 10 as they welcome the Redhawks of Roberts Wesleyan University in ECC play on Senior Day.
